There are no shortage of bad guys Spidey will be webbing up in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and yet it seems there's still room for more. With it looking more certain that the Sinister Six will at least begin forming in the film at some point, the sequel's Tumblr page is hinting at the possibility of Shocker making an appearance. Here's the text of a post from The Daily Bugle titled "Shake, Rattle, and Rob"....
The NYPD are the city’s greatest heroes, but sometimes even heroes are left scratching their heads. For instance, when $200,000 goes missing from the armored vault at G.K. Mason Bank.
Detective Stan Carter of the NYPD Major Crimes Unit was on scene to comment, stating, ”There’s still a lot we don’t know, but it looks like some kind of sustained vibration literally shook the door off its hinges and ripped the walls apart in the process.” Security cameras inside the bank were damaged upon the immediate forced entry of the robber, denying police a clear view of the perpetrator or the means of rupturing the vault.
When asked if the NYPD had concerns that the nature of the crime might indicate heightened super-human activity, Carter said, “There’s no evidence to point to that yet. When we catch him, we don’t expect anything more than a common crook with a clever toy.”
Shocker is one of Spider-Man's most persistent foes, inventing gauntlets that gave him the ability to generate high-frequency vibratory waves, which he mostly used for personal gain. He's been a member of the Sinister Six in the past, and has also battled The Avengers. The question is who would play him in the film? There's still an unspecified role out there for B.J. Novak (The Office), so could this be it? My gut tells me that there's little to this story that will actually pan out on screen, but we'll have to wait until May 2nd 2014 to find out for sure.
