Kristen Stewart and Jesse Eisenberg Reunite for 'American Ultra'
When the nostalgic coming-of-age comedy Adventureland surfaced in 2009, Jesse Eisenberg was still just that kid who was really good in chatty indie films Roger Dodger and The Squid and the Whale. In other words, nobody really knew him. Kristen Stewart was counted on to draw in the crowds as she was just coming off the first Twilight movie. It didn't really work as Adventureland sort of came and went, but it didn't slow down either star one bit. Now as their careers are at a similar peak, they're reuniting for something that has a lot of great talent behind it.
Stewart and Eisenberg will star in the action comedy, American Ultra, from a script by Chronicle writer Max Landis. At the helm will be Project X director Nima Nourizadeh, and producer Anthony Bregman seems to think the film can match the insanity of the surprise party hit...
Bregman: "Simply put, 'American Ultra' will be the most fun you can possibly have in a movie theater without the use of drugs, fireworks, or canola oil."
Oh yeah? So what's this movie about? Eisenberg plays Mike, an unmotivated stoner who is forced to go on the run with his girlfriend Phoebe (Stewart) when an old secret returns and the government looks to take him out. So what are we talking about here? Is 'American Ultra' a secret superhero name? Or the name of some government operation? Either way the film sounds promising, and we'll keep a close eye on it when shooting begins next April.[THR]
