Samuel L. Jackson Rejoins '1408' Co-Star John Cusack for 'Cell'
It's been more than a year since we last heard anything about an adaptation of Stephen King's novel, Cell. At the time there was no director, but a lead had been found in John Cusack, who had previously starred in an excellent big screen version of King's 1408. Now we're finally getting another update and Cusack is still very much on board and he'll have some familiar company.
Variety reports that Cusack's 1408 co-star Samuel L. Jackson has dialed up a role in the film, which will now be directed by Paranormal Activity 2 helmer Tod "Kip" Williams. Co-written by King and Adam Alleca, the film has Cusack as graphic artist Clay Riddell who goes off in search of his wife and son while cell phone signals are turning ordinary people into vicious killers.
Williams was probably the least inspiring of all the Paranormal Activity directors so that's a reason for concern. If everything comes together, and it should with Cusack, Jackson, and King attached, production would begin in January.
