Trailer for Stylish Sci-Fi Thriller 'The Machine' Starring Caity Lotz and Toby Stephens
There's been a great deal of buzz for sci-fi thriller The Machine as it's been making the festival rounds. The film has taken home awards in Toronto, where it won Best Sci-Fi Film and earned Arrow star Caity Lotz the Best Actress award, and gained three wins at the BAFTAs. Not too shabby, and at least judging by the new trailer the film looks like the wicked spawn of Terminator and Splice, which could be extremely cool. Toby Stephens stars, and the uniquely-named Caradog James is directing for release in the U.K. next March. Hopefully it'll make its way here soon after. Check out the plot and trailer below, and go here if you're interested in seeing a lot more of Ms. Lotz....
Britain is in a Cold War with a new enemy, and the Ministry of Defense is on the brink of developing a game-changing weapon. Lead scientist Vincent McCarthy (Toby Stephens) provides the answer with his creation, ‘The Machine’ – an android with unrivaled physical and processing skills. When a programming glitch causes an early prototype to destroy his lab, McCarthy enlists artificial intelligence expert Ava (Caity Lotz) to help him harness the full potential of a truly conscious fighting machine.
