Will Paul Greengrass Take 'The Stand' for Warner Bros.?

Warner Bros. hasn't been able to get their adaptation of Stephen King's The Stand off the starting blocks, losing one director after another. First it was Harry Potter's David Yates, followed by Ben Affleck, and most recently Scott Cooper (Out of the Furnace) stepped down. But with so much potential for it to be a massive blockbuster franchise they aren't about to give up, and now may be looking to Paul Greengrass to take over.

A rumor surfacing at Badass Digest suggests the Captain Phillips and The Bourne Supremacy director is at the top of the studio's list for the job. And that's pretty much it. We're probably looking at a wish list scenario here and not much more, but it's worth noting that one of the reasons Cooper left was a myriad of creative hurdles between him and producers. Greengrass is a very hands on filmmaker and it's unlikely he'd want to deal with the headaches of a project this size.

Anyway, this all a rumor for now but expect to hear something concrete soon. At least Warner Bros.
is treating the project with the respect it deserves by targeting only top notch directors.
