Mel Gibson Won't Cameo in 'Mad Max: Fury Road'; Film Testing "Extremely Well'

By the time George Miller's Mad Max: Fury Road hits theaters in 2015, it will have been three years since filming began. After all the delays and other on-set troubles it'll be quite the accomplishment to complete it at all. Production continues to roll on the Tom Hardy-led pic, but Miller is feeling pretty good about how it's been received up to this point, telling the Sydney Morning Herald...

Miller: "Our film, luckily after a ridiculous amount of work, is testing extremely well. We're very happy. There has been a lot of doubt about it, [people saying] 'it took so long', but Warners have delayed it until 2015 to go into the top weekend of the year.''

"Ridiculous" is putting it mildly, but at least he's getting some help from the studio who wisely decided to bump the film to 2015 to avoid international conflicts with the World Cup. Of course, that time also puts it in the thick of the busiest movie year ever.

And as for those rumors that the original Mad Max himself, Mel Gibson, would make a cameo? Miller says it ain't happenin'...

Miller: 'It would have been nice somehow but, no, it's not true.''

Oh well. Mad Max: Fury Road opens May 15th 2015.
