With the trailer for
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 webbing up the Internet tomorrow, Sony is pulling out all of the stops on the marketing campaign. They've released a handful of new images courtesy of
USA Today which take us inside Electro's headquarters, which looks like a power plant. We also get what appear to be set photos of Andrew Garfield having fun in the Spidey suit, including one where he's riding atop the Rhino's getaway truck. In the accompanying interview, Marc Webb makes it clear he wanted to put a little bit of fun back into the franchise, saying Spidey is
"really getting the thrills of that virtuosity. That’s going to be a side
of him you’ll want to relish. This time, there’s a jollity we’ve really
embraced.”
He also made an interesting remark about Oscorp, the corporation run by Spidey's nemesis Norman Osborn, who may or may not turn into the Green Goblin.
Webb:
“Oscorp is the evil empire and will always be a major player in these films.”
So Oscorp, and thus the entire Osborn clan, will be at the center of the entire franchise. Good to know, and means we should be seeing a lot of Dane DeHaan and Chris Cooper. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 opens May 2nd 2014.
