Tim Story to Direct Dennis Rodman/Kim Jong Un Buddy Film, 'Diplomats'
Dennis Rodman used to be a guy who made bigger headlines for being bizarre than he ever did for snagging rebounds, and its continued long after his retirement. While he's not wearing wedding gowns anymore (presumably), he made newspapers worldwide for becoming best buds with North Korean dictator, Kim Jong Un. Now the story of their unlikely friendship and Rodman's ridiculous "hoops diplomacy" mission is coming to the big screen.
Tim Story, hot from the success of Ride Along and Think Like a Man, is coming aboard to direct Diplomats, a film based on the antics of Rodman and Jong Un. Rodman went back to North Korea just last month, organized a basketball game and sang "Happy Birthday" to the dictator. Never mind his many human rights violations. 20th Century Fox has already bought the pitch with Jonathan Abrams providing the script.
Story has a sequel to Ride Along coming up, and is wrapping on Think Like a Man Too, so this one may be a ways off. Not that Fox will care because it provides more time for Rodman to do something else ridiculous. He may have to do this one without Kevin Hart, though, since the actor is about a foot too small to play Rodman. [THR]
