Daniel Espinosa to Direct Leonardo DiCaprio's 'Blood on Snow'

The wave of Norwegian crime thrillers sweeping through Hollywood have a fan in Leonardo DiCaprio, who last year agreed to produce and possibly star in Blood on Snow, an adaptation of the upcoming two-part book series by author Jo Nesbø. It's still unclear whether DiCaprio will agree to step in front of the camera, but he's found a top-notch director to bring the story to life.

Deadline reports Safe House director Daniel Espinosa is negotiating to helm the story of a "hit man who’s forced to go into hiding after he fails on a job and finds himself on the run with his intended target, who unfortunately happens to be his boss’s wife." Nesbø wrote the books under his pseudonym, Tom Johansson, and they are expected to be published this fall and next spring. Next is to find a writer to adapt the material, and figure out once and for all if DiCaprio will star.

This is another solid move for Espinosa, who is wrapping up on Soviet crime thriller, Child 44, starring Tom Hardy, Noomi Rapace, Joel Kinnaman, and Gary Oldman. He's also been mentioned as a candidate to direct Michael Fassbender in Assassin's Creed.
