The Western genre seems perfectly suited to rugged old actor like Tommy Lee Jones, and that's where he turned for his directorial debut, The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada. Now nearly a decade later for his sophomore effort behind the camera, The Homesman, he's headed back there with a little help from Hilary Swank and Meryl Streep.
The first trailer for The Homesman has been released, which follows a woman who hires an outlaw to help escort three mentally unstable women from Nebraska to Iowa. Of course, the journey is fraught with danger at every turn, but probably nothing a mean glare from Jones can't handle.
Co-starring James Spader, Miranda Otto, Hailee Steinfeld, William Fichtner, John Lithgow, and Jesse Plemons, The Homesman opens overseas on May 21st. No U.S. release date plans just yet.
