Quentin Tarantino to Direct Live Read of 'His Leaked 'The Hateful Eight' Script
Now that a court date has been set for Quentin Tarantino's lawsuit against Gawker for leaking his script for The Hateful Eight, the filmmaker has found a way to still get it out there to the public. Tarantino is casting for and will direct a live read of the shelved Western, held on April 24th in Los Angeles at the LACMA.
At $200 per ticket it's a sizable chunk of change to plunk down just to watch a bunch of people read a script. So you also get Tarantino reading stage directions and directing a group of hand-picked actors, although it's unclear if any of the film's rumored cast will be a part of it. Certainly, if Christoph Waltz turns up that would make the ticket price a little easier to swallow. All proceeds will go to Film Independent at LACMA so they can continue their year-round work.
This is a one-night only affair and there will be buttloads of security around, as one might expect. So if you're planning on attending don't bother bringing a cell phone or any recording devices, lest you end up in court, too. Go here for more details, and check out a new plot synopsis below:
The Hateful Eight follows the steadily ratcheting tension that develops after a blizzard diverts a stagecoach from its route, and traps a pitiless and mistrustful group which includes a competing pair of bounty hunters, a renegade Confederate soldier, and a female prisoner in a saloon in the middle of nowhere.
