Full Trailer and Poster for Marvel and Disney's 'Big Hero 6' Assembles
As we've seen many times before with Marvel's live-action films, they are more than willing to take a few gambles. One of those risks will come later this year when Disney Animation releases Big Hero 6, an animated film geared towards kids but based on a team even the most die hard Marvel-ite may not know about. The quirky band of Japanese heroes are probably the last property fans would have expected to see adapted, but now that the trailer is here we can see exactly why they were chosen.
With an animation style reminsicent of the studio's Planes movies, the film largely centers on boy genius Hiro Hamada, who is basically a pint-sized Tony Stark in terms of intellect. The trailer shows his comic attempts to assemble his robot sidekick, Baymax, and there are certainly echoes of the troubles Stark often has putting his armor together. Hiro and Baymax will join a team of crime fighters and defend the futuristic city of San Fransokyo from evil. At this point we still don't know who will voice Hamada or Baymax, but Jamie Chung is on board as Gogo Tomago, TJ Miller as Fred, and Maya Rudolph in an unspecified role.
So Iron Man for the kiddies? Expect Disney to market the heck out of this one, and I wouldn't be surprised if there's an eventual TV series. Big Hero 6 opens on November 7th.
