Trailer for Gareth Edwards-Produced Sequel 'Monsters: Dark Continent'
By now many are watching Gareth Edwards' Godzilla and maybe finding out the director's name for the very first time. It's his first big studio picture, earned because of what he was able to show in his debut, Monsters, a creature film that had a similarly ominous mood and shadowy feel. And with Edwards now having hit the major leagues, Tom Green (Misfits) was called upon to direct the sequel, Monsters: Dark Continent, and now a new trailer shows where he is taking the franchise.
Looking like a very different film, this one takes the monster action to the Middle East where a military unit enters the infected zone to take out more creatures bursting forth from the ground like sandworms. The first film helped make Scoot McNairy a star and this one mostly features unknowns with Johnny Harris (Welcome to the Punch) the biggest name.
Monsters: Dark Continent has yet to gain a U.S. release date, but with Edwards exec-producing don't be surprised if it arrives later this year.
