'Guardians of the Galaxy' Character Posters for Drax and Star-Lord
Marvel continues to release new character posters for this summer's offbeat superhero film, Guardians of the Galaxy, and after giving us images for Gamora, Rocket Raccoon and Groot, today brings Drax the Destroyer and team leader, Star-Lord. WWE superstar Dave Bautista is the unpredictable and practically indestructible Drax, who like most members of the team has a personal bone to pick with the villain, Thanos. While he may all big, green, and muscly now, Drax was a human whose family was murdered by Thanos. His vengeful spirit was then placed (by the alien Kronos) into the powerful body he has now so that revenge could be exacted against Thanos.
As for Chris Pratt's Star-Lord, they've changed his origin a little bit but he's still a roguish human who is more thief than hero. Kidnapped by aliens as a child, he joins a group of intergalactic smugglers and is on a quest to find mysterious artifacts that Thanos (voiced by Josh Brolin) and Ronan the Accuser (Lee Pace) are also in search for. Guardians of the Galaxy opens August 1st and co-stars Zoe Saldana, Bradley Cooper, and Vin Diesel.
PLOT: From Marvel, the studio that brought you the global blockbuster franchises of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers, comes a new team – the Guardians of the Galaxy. An action-packed epic space adventure, Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits – Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Peter discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand – with the galaxy’s fate in the balance. Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” is presented by Marvel Studios. The film releases August 1, 2014, and is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.
