Jason Bateman Directing and Starring in FBI Wedding Comedy

When we had the chance to speak with Jason Bateman ahead of his directorial debut with the R-rated comedy, Bad Words, he talked about shifting his career away from acting. And while he remains busy in front of the camera, Bateman is also prepping his follow-up, an adaptation of novel The Family Fang, and now Universal has set him to direct an untitled comedy.

According to THR, Bateman will direct and star in an FBI wedding comedy, currently being rewritten by playwright David Bar Katz. Phil Alden Robinson (Field of Dreams) and David Flebotte wrote previous versions of the story which follows "two undercover FBI agents who pretend to fall in love and use their wedding as a law enforcement trap against the mob." The project had been set up for Steve Carell to star in but he dropped out some time ago.

Bateman will be keeping plenty busy with the upcoming ensemble dramedy, This Is Where I Leave You, and Horrible Bosses 2 coming later this year.
