Well, it doesn't seem as if Benedict Cumberbatch will be wielding the Eye of Agamotto in Marvel's Doctor Strange. So where does that leave them? Tom Hardy was on the same wish list, and Edgar Ramirez was said to be in line for a role due to his recent work with director Scott Derrickson. But now another name has entered the picture, and it may be the most intriguing one yet.
According to The Wrap, Joaquin Phoenix is being mentioned for the role of Doctor Stephen Strange, Marvel's master of the mystic arts. The film is expected to be announced officially tomorrow during Marvel's panel, although it has been rumored for a couple of years now.
Check Twitter and you'll find some are saying Phoenix has been going around to various shops looking for Doctor Strange comics. Take that with a grain of salt but if true then Marvel has scored a major coup.
