The path to Quentin Tarantino filming his next Western, The Hateful Eight, has been a bumpy one. Initially set to be his follow-up to Django Unchained (the two films are not related), those plans were derailed when the script was leaked and Tarantino publicly flamed out over it. But after a successful script reading a couple of months ago the project seemed to be back on with a November shoot planned. And while the film does seem to be a go, it may be happening a little bit later.
One of those who took part in the live read was Kurt Russell (also of Tarantino's Death Proof), and speaking with Fox's Philly affiliate about upcoming projects he revealed when The Hateful Eight is expected to begin production, saying "There's a Tarantino project called The Hateful Eight that looks like it may go somewhere around the beginning of the year."
Adding a bit of fuel to his were Russell's comments about Bone Tomahawk, another Western which he says could shoot in October. Doubtful he'd be able to do both. Also, the fact that Russell is up on The Hateful Eight's schedule further suggests the entire cast from the script read has been approached to return. That cast consisted of Russell, Samuel L. Jackson, Bruce Dern, Michael Madsen, James Remar, Amber Tamblyn, Walt Goggins, and Zoe Bell. We'll see if timing can be worked out to bring them all back in. [FirstShowing]
