Martin Scorsese Directing Feature Film on Punk Icons The Ramones
When people think of the major influences on the punk rock movement the band that will probably be mentioned first is the Ramones. For me, they've never held any special place except that their music is frequently used in movies to denote a certain counter-culture spirit. Put a character in a Ramones t-shirt and we've pretty much got them pegged. But one guy who knows how to use music in his movies and has the resume to prove it is Martin Scorsese, and Billboard says he's making a feature film on the Ramones.

The documentary is just one of several projects in the works. Among the others are a theatrical play, a book and a film, which already has Oscar-winning director Martin Scorsese attached.
Scorsese has occupied himself with plenty of music films in the past, such as Bob Dylan's No Direction Home, the Rolling Stones concert doc Shine a Light, and of course The Last Waltz. He's currently working on a 1970s-set rock music drama for HBO, and his movie Shutter Island is also being turned into a series for the network.
Joey Ramone was last depicted on screen in the comedy, CBGB, played by Joel David Moore.
