Possible Spoilers on Which Marvel Characters will Appear in 'Ant-Man'

Filming on Marvel's Ant-Man is just getting underway with director Peyton Reed on board, but those who attended Comic-Con already got a look at what his vision for the film in the form of a brief teaser. There wasn't enough to it to get a sense of how Reed's vision differs from that of Edgar Wright, who left the project over creative differences with Marvel. One of those bones of contention had to do with blending Ant-Man deeper into the Marvel Cinematic Universe by adding more characters and plot threads from other movies. While there have been many script revisions since then, we may be getting a look at how Ant-Man ties into the larger continuity. Beware of spoilers!!!

The guys at Latino Review say they have learned of an Ant-Man prologue centered on Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), and a meeting he has with some very important people in the formation of SHIELD. Attending the meeting are Iron Man's daddy, Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper or John Slattery, probably the latter), Agent Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell), Arnim Zola (Toby Jones), and a young Alexander Pierce. Out of those four at least two of them we know to be evil, but the inclusion of Pierce is intriguing. We last saw an older Pierce played by Robert Redford in Captain America: The Winter Soldier when he was revealed to be a mole working for HYDRA. Could the machinations of HYDRA have anything to do with the death of Pym's wife? And if Pierce is showing up here then it's a good chance we'll see him in the Agent Carter TV series which is set during SHIELD's early days.

A lot of changes have taken place on Ant-Man over the last few months so there's no guarantee this scene is still in there. It sounds like something that should stay in some form because of how much it connects the entire history of the Marvel Universe without being too obvious. Ant-Man opens next year on July 17th.
