Marvel already has one Oscar nominee headlining Doctor Strange, so why not add one more? According to THR, 12 Years a Slave's Chiwetel Ejiofor is being sought for a lead role in the film, joining star Benedict Cumberbatch.
Talks with Ejiofor are said to be pretty early on, and it's unclear what role he would take. Would he be a villain? Possibly someone like Dormammu? Or maybe Baron Mordo? It could be anybody, but landing an actor of Ejiofor's stature would be another huge feather in Marvel's cap. He's in Park City right now for the premiere of Z for Zachariah and is bound to get asked about it, so stay tuned. If I see him I'll bumrush him with the question myself.
