With Fox, the CW, NBC, and ABC already having filled their lineups with comic book shows, the only network that hadn't followed through was CBS. But that changed when it was revealed a Supergirl series was in development at the network, and now we know who will play the Kryptonian.
According to Vulture, Glee and Whiplash actress Melissa Benoist will lead the Supergirl pilot in the role of Kara Zor-El. The series is spearheaded by Greg Berlanti, who has already found success with Arrow and The Flash. Kara Zor-El was born on Krypton but escaped before its ultimate destruction, and has been on Earth hiding her powers from the people around her. But at the age of 24 she decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and become a hero.
The question is whether or not Supergirl will crossover with The Flash and Arrow. Even with Berlanti leading all three series the fact they are on different networks could be an issue.
