'Suicide Squad' Loses Tom Hardy; Jake Gyllenhaal Could Replace Him

Warner Bros. amassed quite a starry lineup for DC Comics adaptation Suicide Squad, arguably bigger than any of their other films. Will Smith, Tom Hardy, Margot Robbie, Viola Davis, and Jared Leto were set to star in the antihero movie, but now one of them has been forced to drop out, and it's the one with previous experience as a DC Comics villain.

According to THR, Hardy has exited Suicide Squad, in which he would have taken the role of Rick Flag. While that's unfortunate news, The Wrap has word that Jake Gyllenhaal is being sought to replace him and that's not such a bad thing. The reasons for Hardy's departure are unclear but it may have to do with the extended shoot of Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu's The Revenant which is still going on.

With David Ayer planning to film Suicide Squad this April expect Hardy's replacement to be named soon.
