After watching the disturbing Warren Jeffs documentary Prophet's Prey and the creepy Martha Marcy May Marlene, post-cult deprogramming hardly seems like a topic worth laughing at. However it seems to be worth a few laughs in Faults, the dark comedy thriller starring Mary Elizabeth Winstead and directed by her husband, Riley Stearns.
Winstead stars as Claire, a young woman who falls under the sway of a cult known as "Faults". When her desperate parents hire a mind control expert (Leland Orser) to break their grip on her, it naturally doesn't go quite as planned and the battle of wills turns deadly. The film also stars Lance Reddick, Jon Gries, and Beth Grant.
Faults opens on March 6th.
