Melissa Leo, Zachary Quinto, and Tom Wilkinson Board Oliver Stone's Edward Snowden Film
Understandably, the circle of close confidantes surrounding NSA whistleblower (or traitor, depending on your perspective) Edward Snowden is a small one, but there are a few names that definitely stand out. As Oliver Stone rounds up the cast for his upcoming movie on Snowden starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Shailene Woodley, the roles of three of Snowden's associates have just been filled.
Oscar-winner Melissa Leo (The Fighter), Oscar-nominee Tom Wilkinson (Selma), and Zachary Quinto (Star Trek) have signed on to the untitled film, which will be based on the books “The Snowden Files: The Inside Story of the World’s Most Wanted Man” by Luke Harding and “Time of the Octopus” by Anatoly Kucherena. Leo will take the role of filmmaker and journalist Laura Poitras, who directed the terrific documentary Citizenfour. Quinto will play controversial reporter Glenn Greenwald while Wilkinson is his colleague at The Guardian, Ewen MacAskill.
Production should begin soon in Munich.
