New Trailer for Disney's 'Cinderella' Works Its Magic

Disney's latest live-action rebranding, Cinderella, is only about a month away but you'd never really know it. There has been a deafening silence regarding the fairy tale film, and despite all of the gorgeously adorned costumes seen in some colorful promos, the only real magic may be if Disney manages to avoid this being a high-profile flop.

Part of the reason could be at the top as star Lily James is hardly the most inspiring Cinderella ever. Nor is director Kenneth Branagh the most obvious pick for this kind of showy material. He's directed one of Marvel's blandest movies in Thor; and last year's big budget bomb, Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit. So perhaps there's a problem on both sides of the camera for Disney to contend with? Or maybe after Oz the Great and Powerful and Maleficent audiences feel they've seen this kind of thing too often already?

The latest trailer and clip probably aren't going to change anybody's mind, but they do offer another look at Cate Blanchett who is eating up her chance to play the wicked stepmother. Cinderella opens March 13th.
