Facebook regulars have probably seen the quiz asking "How long would you survive a zombie apocalypse?" or some variation on that question. They're silly, but it's fun to think how we would do if somehow we were in the middle of a horror movie. While the Scream franchise did a pretty good job exploring this idea, dark comedy The Final Girls takes it far more literally.
Directed by Todd Strauss-Schulson (A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas) and starring Taissa Farmiga, Malin Akerman, Thomas Middleditch, Adam Devine, Alia Shawkat, Alexander Ludwig, and Nina Dobrev, the film centers on a girl who is transported with her friends into an '80s slasher movie. The catch is that her mother, a legendary "scream queen", was the film's star.
The first clip has been released and it does a pretty good job setting up the situation and the inevitable deaths of the entire cast. Is it possible to fend off raging hormones in a movie like this? Of course not, and as Middleditch's character says, "Everyone who has sex in this movie dies".
Reviews have been extremely positive since the film made its world premiere at SXSW over the weekend.
