'The Crow' Creator Confirms Jack Huston for Remake

This has been in the works for awhile, but now it can be confirmed that Boardwalk Empire's Jack Huston will star in the eternally-in-the-works remake of The Crow. Dread Central got the lowdown straight from The Crow creator James O'Barr....

O'Barr said that "Jack Huston has definitely been cast," that he was "really happy with that choice," and that the film "will shoot in a couple of months." He also said the film will essentially be a straight adaptation of his original graphic novel, which differs quite a bit from the (still awesome) 1994 Brandon Lee vehicle.

Corin Hardy directs the remake of the 1994 Alex Proyas-directed adaptation of the James O'Barr graphic novel The Crow which is about a murdered man who comes back for revenge.

The Cliff Dorfman-scripted pic will go into production in the spring.

Huston has been on something of a hot streak landing of landing big studio flicks, in particular remakes. He's starring opposite Morgan Freeman in Timur Bekmambetov's remake of Ben-Hur, and also has an adaptation of Pride & Prejudice & Zombies where he'll play Mr. Wickham. He'll even get a chance to show his romantic side in Nicholas Sparks' The Longest Ride, due out in April.

As for The Crow, Huston will take on the role of Eric Draven, a murdered man who comes back from the dead as an avenging spirit.  After a number of directors passed through the project over the years, Corin Hardy (The Hallow) seems to be the guy who will finally revive The Crow for the big screen.

You'll excuse me if I don't exactly hold my breath over this. After all the problems this film has had I'll believe it when the credits roll.
