Check Out Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler in 'X-Men: Apocalypse'; Oscar Isaac Talks Apocalypse's Horsemen
X-Men: Apocalypse will see the return of many familiar faces, only not as you've seen them before. One mutant who will be coming back in an all new way is the teleporting, blue-skinned Nightcrawler, who will now be much younger and played by Kodi Smit-Mcphee (Slow West). With filming now underway in Montreal, Bryan Singer has revealed the first look at McPhee as Nightcrawler.
Releasing the image on Instagram with super cheesy "Bamf!" effects might not have been the wisest move, but it's better than nothing I guess? Given Singer's social media presence it shouldn't be long before we see some of the other new faces in the cast like Tye Sheridan as Cyclops, Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, Alexandra Shipp as Storm, Olivia Munn as Psylocke, Lana Candor as Jubilee, and Ben Hardy as Angel.
Meanwhile, Oscar Isaac (who is excellent right now in Ex Machina) is playing the titular villain and he opened up to IGN a little bit about Apocalypse's loyal minions, the Four Horsemen. They consist of Death, War, Pestilence, and Famine, and we'll get to see how Apocalypse recruited them to his cause...
Isaac: "Without giving anything away, the recruitment of the Four Horsemen is very cool," the actor enthused. "It's very interesting the way that he does that. You know the idea of - the way that cult leaders do - they find people that are in need of something and try to fulfill that thing in them - as it relates to every one of the Horseman."
My favorite villain team in the X-Men universe is Apocalypse's other group of followers, the Dark Riders, and there's part of me that hopes we see them at some point. X-Men: Apocalypse opens May 27th 2016.
