'John Wick' Directors Rumored for a Future DC Comics Film; Plus 'Batman v Superman' Rumors
What happens when you direct an instant cult favorite action flick like last year's John Wick? For stuntmen-turned-directors Chad Stahelski and David Leitch it means becoming hot commodities around Hollywood, and now possibly the guiding forces behind one of DC's upcoming superhero films.
A rumor has surfaced over at Latino Review claiming the duo are being sought by Warner Bros. for a future DC Comics movie. Which one? They have no idea, and it may all amount to nothing. Right now the only movies with definite helmers are Justice League with Zack Snyder, Michelle MacLaren on Wonder Woman, and David Ayer's Suicide Squad. Jeff Nicholas and Noam Murro have been rumored for Aquaman, while Phil Lord and Chris Miller are said to be the top picks for The Flash. With Cyborg, Green Lantern, and Shazam (which I still think will be directed by Brad Peyton) also without confirmed directors that leaves quite a few options.
The duo are already set for another comic book adaptation as they recently agreed to direct Chris Pratt in Cowboy Ninja Viking. And who knows? Maybe they could convince Keanu to suit up? All of this is great as long as it doesn't interfere with John Wick 2.
Meanwhile, another rumor has surfaced in regards to the possible presence of Robin in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Stories have been flying around for months that some kind of memorial to the Jason Todd version of Robin will be in the Batcave, and Latino Review has a bit of an update. They say Jared Leto's Joker, who will be a part of Suicide Squad, will have killed Robin, leading to his estrangement from Harley Quinn who feels guilt over it. They add that the villain Red Hood, who in the comics is Jason Todd returned from the grave, is meant to be an important character in the DC movie universe.
Buy any of this? Lots to ponder. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is still a year away, opening March 25th 2016.
