Steve Carell to Star in Robert Zemeckis' Remake of Documentary 'Marwencol'
Fresh off his Best Actor-nominated performance in Foxcatcher, Steve Carell has apparently decided true-life tales are where it's at. He's just signed up for a narrative version of the award-winning 2010 documentary, Marwencol, with Robert Zemeckis on board to direct.
Zemeckis has been attached to the project for a couple of years but it's taken some time for it to get moving. The original film centered on Mark Hogancamp, a man who was beaten nearly to death outside of a bar and left in a coma. Waking up after nine days, he was left with severe brain damage and little memory of his previous life. To cope, he began building tiny versions of himself, his friends, family, and the attackers in a miniature town called "Marwencol", attracting the attention of the New York art world. Carell would obviously play Hogancamp, who eventually had to face the reality from which he had been hiding. Caroline Thompson (Edward Scissorhands) will write the script.
Filming on this would have to take place when Zemeckis wraps on The Walk, his 3D drama starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
