After a modest turnout for the first day of Awesome Con, the crowds were definitely out in day two. Saturday's pop culture bonanza saw the cosplayers out in force, adorned as their favorite characters from all over the geek spectrum. Most of them I could easily recognize, others were characters so obscure that I had to politely ask who the heck they were. All were friendly, because the one truly great thing about conventions like this is that everybody feels comfortable and like they belong.
Day two for me was all about snagging Cosplay photos (and wasting more money), because with the big costume contest happening that night this was when everybody would bring their nerdy best. I wasn't disappointed as the freak flags were flying at full staff all day. There were X-Men, Justice Leaguers, members of the BWO (wrestling fans will appreciate that), and I'm happy to report that Mad Max: Fury Road was well represented. Expect to see a lot more Immorten Joe and Furiosa cosplayers over the coming months.
