Plots for the New Seasons of 'Agent Carter' and 'Agents of SHIELD' Hint at Big Changes

At this point the only Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise definitely finished is Iron Man 3, unless somebody knows something I don't? Didn't think so. Even the live-action TV series Agents of SHIELD, which has been faced with underwhelming ratings for two seasons, recently got an order for a third. And right along with it was a renewal for Agent Carter's second season, picking up during Agents of SHIELD's midseason break.

With both shows locked in, ABC has revealed the plot synopses for both series, and the tell us that Coulson is going on another mission while Peggy Carter is moving to Hollywood.

In Agents of SHIELD's third season:

"Director Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) embarks on a deadly new secret mission to protect the world from new threats in the wake of SHIELD's wars with Hydra and a rogue faction of Inhumans."

And in Agent Carter:

“Dedicated to the fight against new atomic age threats in the wake of World War II, Peggy must now journey from New York City to Los Angeles for her most dangerous assignment yet. But even as she discovers new friends, a new home — and perhaps even a new love — she’s about to find out that the bright lights of the post-war Hollywood mask a more sinister threat to everyone she is sworn to protect.”

So are we definitely learning that a faction of the Inhumans will splinter off from the main group? And is this a way of setting up the eventual movie? And who is Agent Carter going to be facing out there in Hollywood? Mutant A-list celebrities?

Agents of SHIELD's season 2 finale airs tonight on ABC.
