Rosamund Pike wants Revenge in Trailer for 'Return to Sender'
Rosamund Pike was tremendous in David Fincher's Gone Girl last year, taking insanity to heights we haven't seen since Glenn Close in Fatal Attraction. And she's clearly mining the same crazy territory in Return to Sender, a thriller about another woman with a vicious streak. Only this time Pike doesn't have the same level of talent around her, and the film looks rather terrible as a result.
Directed by Fouad Mikati (the mediocre Operation: Endgame) and co-starring Rumer Willis, Nick Nolte, and Shiloh Fernandez, the film supposedly centers on a nurse who is assaulted by a man who isn't what he claims to be, so she sets out to get her life back. But there's obviously more to it because this trailer doesn't make a whole lot of sense. There seems to be some kind of relationship that forms between Pike's character and her attacker, but it may be part of a larger scheme. It almost certainly is.
Anyway, there aren't a lot of reasons to be optimistic except for Pike, so hopefully Return to Sender gets a U.S. distributor soon. It opens in the U.K. on May 22nd.
