What if a pair of Law & Order cops were sent to investigate the resurrection of Jesus Christ? That would kind of be interesting, wouldn't it? Well, that's not exactly the plot of the Biblical mystery, Risen, but it's close. Joseph Fiennes and Tom Felton play Roman soldiers investigating the mystery of Jesus' Resurrection. Seriously, here's the plot to prove it:
"Risen" is the epic Biblical story of the Resurrection, as told through the eyes of a non-believer. Clavius (Joseph Fiennes), a powerful Roman Military Tribune, and his aide Lucius (Tom Felton), are tasked with solving the mystery of what happened to Jesus in the weeks following the crucifixion, in order to disprove the rumors of a risen Messiah and prevent an uprising in Jerusalem.
That sounds both absolutely absurd and kind of amazing. We could be talking about a disaster on the level of Waterworld or something. Oh wait, the film is directed by Waterworld's Kevin Reynolds? Even better! Should we be surprised Risen is slated for a January release next year? Check out the trailer:
