WGN Picks Up TV Series Adaptation of William Friedkin's 'To Live an Die in L.A.'

William Friedkin's To Live and Die in L.A. has grown into a cult classic thirty years since its release, which is why it wasn't totally surprising to learn last year that a TV series was in the works, along with one for Killer Joe. Around the same time of that announcement, Friedkin admitted that he was sick of feature films, and that he didn't want to "make a movie about a guy in a mask and a spandex suit flying around and saving the world." Well, now he won't have to.

According to Deadline, the TV series based on To Live and Die in L.A. is moving forward and Friedkin will be directing and exec-producing. Bobby Moresco (Crash) will write the script and its expected to continue following the incredible lengths the Secret Service will go in the dark underbelly of Los Angeles. WGN America has already picked up the rights and given it a straight to series order.

The original film starred William Peterson (CSI), Willem Dafoe, John Turturro, Dean Stockwell, and Robert Downey Sr. Wang Chung scored the memorable soundtrack and we can only hope they'll be called back again.
