20th Century Fox is banking a lot on Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, and why shouldn't they? The first film debuted last year and quickly overshadowed the much starrier Divergent. While it hasn't quite reached The Hunger Games territory, with that franchise coming to an end there's definitely room for a new YA champion to emerge. A couple of weeks ago at Comic-Con a brand new, incredibly intense trailer debuted, and now it has been released online along with six character posters.
The images feature returning stars Dylan O'Brien, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Ki Kong Lee, and Kaya Scodelario along with newcomers Nathalie Emmanuel (Game of Thrones, Furious 7), and Rosa Salazar (who also has a role in the Divergent sequels). Wes Ball returns to direct the film which has the Gladers investigating the world outside of the Maze and the mysterious organization known as WCKD.
Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials opens September 18th.
