Jordan Peele Helms 'Get Out'; Albert Hughes to Direct 'Solutrean'
Jordan Peele, one half of the comedy duo Key & Peele, is teaming with Blumhouse Productions for, not a comedy, but a horror film titled Get Out. Peele wrote and will direct the film which centers on a young African-American man who visits his Caucasian girlfriend's family estate. Blumhouse, which has been the leader in lucrative low budget thriller, has been a roll with the success of The Visit, The Gift, and Insidious Chapter 3.
Well, this should knock Albert Hughes' name off the list of potential Akira directors. The Menace II Society and Book of Eli co-director has signed on to helm The Solutrean, a survival tale with a twist. It's set 20,000 years ago during the time of the Ice Age and follows a hunting expedition gone wrong and a young survivor's braving of the harsh conditions to find his way back. Hughes will shoot the film in IMAX 3D based on a screenplay by Dan Wiedenhaupt. [Deadline]
