Chris Hemsworth Rumored for New Allan Quartermain Film
The last time we saw pulp adventure hero Allan Quartermain in a big screen film it didn't turn out well at all. He was played by Sean Connery in The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, and basically it was so terrible that Connery retired from making movies. But now Hollywood may be looking to bring H. Rider Haggard’s famous character back to theaters in a new franchise led by Chris Hemsworth.
The story comes from The Tracking Board (judge accordingly) who say that Hemsworth is circling a new Allan Quartermain film written by Barnett Brettler. Quartermain is a big game hunter, adventurer, and expert marksman who first appeared in the 1885 book, King Solomon's Mines, which was itself adapted into a 1985 film starring Richard Chamberlain and Sharon Stone. It was followed by the sequel, Allan Quartermain and the Lost City of Gold.
Hemsworth isn't attached yet, and given his Marvel franchises and Universal's The Huntsman Winter's War, he may not have the time. He'll be seen next in Ron Howard's high-seas adventure, In the Heart of the Sea.
