'Snowpiercer' is Next to Become a TV Series

This is turning out to be a really good week for Korean director Bong Joon-Ho. His upcoming monster film, Okja, just landed support in the form of Netflix and Brad Pitt's Plan B studio. And now his sci-fi hit from last year, Snowpiercer, is being developed into a TV series. Of course it is.

According to THR, Josh Friedman, writer on James Cameron's Avatar films and Steven Spielberg's War of the Worlds, is writing a serialized version of Snowpiercer for the small screen. Joon-Ho and Park Chan-Wook are on board as producers, but that's about all the details there are right now. The original film starred Chris Evans, Song Kang-Ho, Tilda Swinton, and more and centered on the brutal class system that emerges on a perpetually-moving train carrying the last human survivors of a wintry Armageddon.

It's definitely a premise full of terrific potential, and hopefully they won't mess with the formula too much. That could depend on when/if it lands on a network, a pay subscriber like HBO, or a streaming service.
