Colossus Voice Actor In 'Deadpool' Revealed As New Images and TV Spot Arrive
Colossus is one of the most beloved X-Men, which is why it's strange he's received so little action in the movies. When the character was revealed to be part of the upcoming Deadpool film, that too was weird because they don't have any serious ties in the comics. So what's he doing in the merc-with-a-mouth's movie, anyway? That much is still unclear but we don't have some new images of the steel-skinned mutant, and the reveal of who will be providing his famous Russian accent.
While Andre Tricoteau has long been confirmed to be playing Colossus, the actual voice of the Russian will be performed by Serbian actor Stefan Kapicic. The casting was revealed by EW who also add a couple of new photos featuring Colossus, Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool, and Brianna Hildebrand as the awesomely-named Negasonic Teenage Warhead. You can also get a listen to Colossus in the first TV spot which has just been released. Kapicic opened up about the voice he intends to use for the character and how director Tim Miller used motion-capture to give Colossus his massive size.
"Tim Miller’s idea of Colossus was to be bigger and stronger than everyone else, so for the motion capture they needed an extremely tall man (I’m 6’4”, but he wanted Colossus to be over 7’, so they used a stunt-double to recreate his height, and he did very good job there). Tim also wanted Colossus to sound as close as possible to the comic book character’s background, so he had me to come in, since my voice was what he envisioned for Colossus who has an authentic Russian accent. My character’s voice gives him the past history as Piotr Nikolayevich Rasputin once you hear him speak. This made him the most authentic to the original idea of the comic book character."
Deadpool hits theaters on February 12th 2016, and keep an eye out for the new trailer arriving on Christmas.
