'The Dinner' Adds Rebecca Hall And Chloe Sevigny, Josh Gad Joins Thurgood 'Marshall' Biopic

Oren Moverman (The Messenger, Time Out of Mind) has added a couple of seats at the table for Rebecca Hall and Chloe Sevigny as both actresses have joined The Dinner. They join Richard Gere, Laura Linney, and Steve Coogan in the adaptation of Herman Koch's best-selling book about two couples who meet over dinner to decide what to do about their respective children who have committed a violent act captured on film. The original story is set in Amsterdam but Moverman, who wrote the script and will direct, is moving the action to America. [Deadline]

Josh Gad is headed to court. He'll join Chadwick Boseman in Marshall, a biopic of the first African-American Supreme Court Justice, Thurgood Marshall. Reginald Hudlin is directing the film which centers on one of Marshall's most prominet cases, that of black chauffeur Joseph Spell against his wealthy socialite employer in a sexual assault and attempted murder trial that quickly became tabloid fodder. The NAACP assigned Marshall to the case at a time when they were badly in need of a high-profile victory and facing a storm of fear and prejudice. Gad will play Sam Friedman, a Jewish insurance lawyer who teams with Marshall in hopes of winning his first case. [Deadline]
