Rosamund Pike Eyes 'Guernsey', Michael Pitt Joins 'Ghost In The Shell', Ed Helms Is 'The Clapper'
Rosamund Pike is eyeing the lead role in Guernsey, the long-developing adaptation of best-selling book, "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society". After Kenneth Branagh dropped out it's now Mike Newell in line to direct the film about a writer who becomes friends with members of a secret society on Guernsey Island in the aftermath of WWII. Kate Winslet, Lily James, and Rebecca Ferguson previously circled the role that Pike is now considering. [Deadline]
Michael Pitt is pretty good at playing villains, but don't necessarily assume he's the bad guy in the live-action Ghost in the Shell. That's what some sites are reporting, but Deadline urges caution on that, saying that Pitt's role is a "key" one. He joins Scarlett Johansson and Pilou Asbaek in the adaptation of the classic manga/anime directed by Rupert Sanders and due out on March 31st 2017.
Ed Helms and Amanda Seyfried are set to star in The Clapper, the latest film from Dito Montiel (Fighting, Boulevard). The film is based on Montiel's book of the same name and centers on a professional clapper for infomercials who gets his 15 minutes of fame on a TV talk show, only to have it cost him professionally and personally.
