In the works for years, Mark Seal's con-artist book The Man in the Rockefeller Suit is one that Hollywood has been dying to adapt. Originally eyed by Scott Cooper before Walter Salles became attached in 2013, the project has never been able to get off the ground despite such high-profile talent. And now a less recognizable name has come aboard to direct the picture in hopes of finally being the one to make it happen.
According to Deadline, Argentinian director Pablo Trapero is set to direct the film, riding high on the Goya Award-winning performance of his most recent effort, The Clan. Fox Searchlight has rights to the film which was penned by David Bar Katz and tells the true story of German impostor Christian Karl Gerhartsreiter, who came to America posing as a member of the Rockefeller family. It allowed him to walk in higher social circles until his past caught up with him.
This has all the makings of a big Hollywood production with a flashy, possibly awards-worthy central performance, so keep an eye out on this one to see who is cast.
