Trailer For Tom Hardy's FX Series 'Taboo' Produced By Ridley Scott And Steven Knight

This promises to be a busy and possibly golden weekend for Tom Hardy as he's an Oscar nominee for The Revenant, and Mad Max: Fury Road has 10 total nominations. Basically, he's never been as hot as he is right now, which makes this a good time for FX to drop the first trailer for Taboo, which features Hardy in what looks like another dynamic performance.

Produced by Hardy, Ridley Scott, and creator Steven Knight, who worked with the actor on Locke just a couple of years ago, the 8-episode Taboo is set in 1814 and follows James Keziah Delaney, a rogue adventurer many believed to be dead, but returns home to London reclaim a dark legacy. Here's the full synopsis:

Taboo follows James Keziah Delaney, a man who has been to the ends of the earth and come back irrevocably changed. Believed to be long dead, he returns home to London from Africa in 1814 to inherit what is left of his father’s shipping empire and rebuild a life for himself. But when his father’s legacy is revealed to be a poisoned chalice and enemies lurk in every dark corner, James must navigate increasingly complex territories to avoid his own death sentence. Encircled by conspiracy, murder, and betrayal – a dark family mystery unfolds in an explosively colourful tale of love and treachery.

This looks pretty incredible, with Hardy fitting into this dark and twisted world like a glove. Taboo co-stars Jonathan Pryce, Michael Kelly, and Oona Chaplin with Kristoffer Nyholm (The Killing) set to direct. FX will debut the series later this year.
