What is it about Mars that makes it more interesting than other planets, at least as far as movies go? The giant red planet has been the interstellar setting for many a Hollywood film, including last year's Oscar nominee, The Martian. And now there's another cinematic journey to the planet on the way, and it will be led by Mark Strong in Approaching the Unknown.
Looking a little bit like Duncan Jones' Moon, the first trailer for the film shows Strong as astronaut William D. Stanaforth, who runs into trouble during his one-way mission to Mars. There's another martian movie for ya, Mission to Mars. Anyway, he encounters a situation similar to Matt Damon in The Martian and has to find a way to survive space's harsh conditions all by himself. Remember to save the potatoes and store all of your pee for drinking.
Also starring Luke Wilson, Sanaa Lathan, Anders Danielsen Lie and Charles Baker with Mark Elijah Rosenberg making his directorial debut, Approaching the Unknown touches down on June 3rd.
