'Jurassic World 2' Lands A Director As J.A. Bayona Is Confirmed
How in demand is The Impossible director, J.A. Bayona? Last fall we learned he had been approached to direct the sequel to last year's biggest hit, Jurassic World. However, a studio tug of war erupted because Paramount had him set to helm their sequel to World War Z. So what happened? Bayona had to drop out anyway because he was busy finishing up A Monster Calls, leaving him free again. And now he's back making sure Chris Pratt looks good getting chased by rabid dinosaurs.
The Wrap confirms Bayona as director of Jurassic World 2, with Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard reprising their roles. Previous director Colin Trevorrow is still around, tinkering with the screenplay from his frequent collaborator, Derek Connolly. Not much is known about the plot but Trevorrow has teased "open-sourced" dinosaurs in a storyline that goes outside the park.
Jurassic World 2 opens June 22nd 2018.
