Kate McKinnon, Emma Stone, And Jillian Bell Are 'Women In Business'
Watch out, fellas, the ladies are taking over comedy. Or maybe it's just Kate McKinnon? The SNL star already has a role in this summer's female-led Ghostbusters, and now she's joining another all-gal comedy with some talented ladies.
McKinnon, Emma Stone, and Jillian Bell (22 Jump Street) will star in Women in Business, a film about two competitive women whose business trip to Canada is derailed by a female intern they hired off Craigslist. Sounds like a Paul Feig joint, right? Well, no. Directing is Jake Szymanski, the guy behind the Zac Efron comedy Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, from a screenplay by Red Oaks' Laurel Steinel.
This is a big move for McKinnon, possibly bigger than Ghostbusters because it helps ensure that wasn't just a one-time thing. She could be well on her way to headlining a comedy on her own. Stone has had a couple of comedy flops in a row in Aloha and Irrational Man, but she could bounce back later this year with Damien Chazelle's La La Land. Bell was last seen alongside Seth Rogen in The Night Before.
What we don't know is who will play the intern, but honestly any of these three ladies would be great for it. Hopefully this turns out to be better than Unfinished Business was because they sound very similar. [THR]
