'Now You See Me 3' Brings Back Jon Chu As Director

Back in May of last year Lionsgate was already talking about a third film in their "magicians steal stuff" franchise, Now You See Me, even though the second one doesn't come out until this summer. That may have seemed a little bit premature, and maybe it is, but they are definitely moving forward with a director already attached.

According to Variety, Jon M. Chu is returning to direct Now You See Me 3, with the assumption that the key cast will be coming back, as well. That would include Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco, and some actress playing the fourth member of the Horsemen. In the first film, which earned a whopping $350M in 2013 on only a $75M budget, that role was filled by Isla Fisher. Lizzy Caplan replaced her for the sequel, joined by new faces Daniel Radcliffe, Jay Chou, and Sanaa Lathan. Presumably we can count on Mark Ruffalo, Morgan Freeman, and Michael Caine reprising their roles.

So hopefully Now You See Me 2 will be a hit when it opens on June 10th, otherwise this move could look pretty silly.
