Rising Star Isabela Moner Joins 'Transformers 5' As Female Lead
Mark Wahlberg is getting a sidekick for Transformers 5, and no, Bumblebee doesn't count. The Wrap reports that Paramount Pictures is eyeing Nickelodeon star Isabela Moner for the female lead in the Michael Bay-directed action flick. If signed, she'd be the only other confirmed star as Jack Reynor and Nicola Peltz are not expected back.
Moner would be taking the role of street smart orphan, Izabella, who was raised in foster care and counts a small Transformer as her only friend. All of that changes when she meets Cade Yeager, the heroic inventor played by Wahlberg.
Best known for starring in Nickelodeon's 100 Things to do Before High School and Growing Up Fisher, Moner only has a couple of feature credits to her name. She is due to star in an adaptation of James Patterson's popular book series, Middle School: The Worst Years of My Life. And like most of these Disney/Nickelodeon starlets she also has a music career, releasing an album last year that Bay probably has on his playlist. Considering Nickelodeon and Paramount both fall under the Viacom umbrella, there may be some corporate synergy involved in this move.
Transformers 5 opens June 23rd 2017, and is part of an expanded universe that includes a Bumblee spinoff in 2018 and Transformers 6 the following year.
