While we tend to only think of Marvel, Star Wars, and Pixar when the topic of Disney's dominance comes up, they've pretty much got the live-action fairy tale market on lockdown. And with no end to their remakes of classic tales in sight, Disney has gone ahead and revealed a slew of release dates for some untitled projects, while confirming a few that have long been expected.
With The Jungle Book tops at the box office for a second week in a row, Disney has confirmed there will be a sequel, which Jon Favreau will direct. The current film already has $533M worldwide and doesn't appear to be slowing down. Angelina Jolie will be returning for Maleficent 2, with Linda Woolverton back to pen the screenplay. It was up in the air for a while if Jolie would be back as the Sleeping Beauty villainess, but it looks like a deal has been inked. There are no confirmed dates for either of these films, but you can bet they'll fill two of the announced slots. Mickey Mouse would approve, Scrooge McDuck probably wouldn't.
